Preamble
Despite the presence of more than one association of the theatre groups of Bangladesh, there has not been any association so far to work with the goal to meet theatre artist’s rights, interest and demands as well as to develop artistic eminence. The background of the theatre artist’s struggle is unique from region to region. So, not only on the national level but also locally the theatre artists need to be united to extort their own rights. With this goal, an initiative was taken to establish an association that represents the theatre artists on and off stage in Dhaka Metropolitan. On 19 October 2024, 02 Kaartik, 1431 Bangla year Theatre Artists’ Association of Dhaka, TAAD, was established.

TAAD appeared to me as a platform of practicing theatre individuals who have different ways of doing theatre, yet assemble here to get the opportunity of sharing thoughts, enrich themselves through new exposures & skills development initiatives, and finally become the support system of each other. Unity among diversity is the catch for me to join TAAD.
TAAD is a possibility, I believe. Different schools of thought, innovative ideas, and, of course, robust chats and talks can be explored, presented, and highlighted in a shared space. TAAD is a scope. It can foster integrity and unity within the practitioners’ community against adversity. Therefore, to me, TAAD is an opportunity.
